Kimsey Appointed Acting Secretariat
Vancouver, B.C. - The 40th General Session of Delegates was held in Vancouver, B.C April 7th and 8th 2010. One of the primary agenda items was the transitional move having Chief Ron Boyd, President of the International appoint Tim Kimsey, former Port of Seattle Chief of Police and International Executive Director from 1983 to 2000, as interim Secretariat effective immediately and remain in the position until a permanent successor is named. At the conclusion of the Delegates meeting Michael Toddington stepped down as he is is retiring effective at the end of May, but will work with Kimsey to transition the office. Toddington served the organization as Secretariat since 2000.

The International Association of Airport and Seaport Police is the world’s largest international transportation police organization having the ability to coordinate with over 166 countries. Created in 1968, it facilitates police and public safety co-operation activities, and supports and assists all organizations, authorities and services whose mission is to prevent or combat international crime and terrorism. The InterPortPolice highest priorities include information and identity management and law enforcement and public safety training. Eligible organizations may participate in the Security Resource Management Xchange that provides daily intelligence and an information exchange portal on SRMX

Interfacing with private transportation partners, such as airline, cruise line and shipping security organizations who directly work transportation ports is an important goal of the InterPortPolice. Thus inclusive programs have been established.
