Chief Ronald Boyd became President of the International Association of Airport and Seaport Police in June 2007. Chief Boyd has an extensive background in both airport and seaport law enforcement. He is a well seasoned global traveler and has relations with police and security departments worldwide. Chief Boyd follows Chief Russell Whitmarsh of the Port of Houston.
Ron Boyd was sworn in as Chief of Police of the Port of Los Angeles in November of 2004, returning from a five year position with the Los Angeles World Airport where he rose to the position of Commander and Security Coordinator. As part of his 29 year law enforcement career Boyd was a member of the Los Angeles Port Police from 1982 until 1999 when he move over to the airport.
Boyd has extensive experience all aspects of tactical response to terrorist activities and trained with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, United States Coast Guard, Los Angeles Police Department, Los Angeles County Sheriffs, and California Highway Patrol. While at LAX, Boyd oversaw the development of tactical operations and formed strong relationships with local, state and federal law enforcement agencies.
