International Airport and Seaport Police awarded consultative status with United Nation's IMO

International Maritime Organization (IMO), part of the United Nations (UN) responsible for international maritime safety, appointed the International Airport and Seaport Police (InterPort Police) to Conclusive Status.This now places the InterPort Police to assist the IMO’s 166 Members.The InterPort Police bring a unique perspective on law enforcement and public safety to the maritime community. “Today’s decision sends a strong message about the willingness of the shipping world to find solutions on several security aspects including unified international security, identity and information management throughout the maritime world, stated Chief Ron Boyd of the Port of Los Angeles Police Department who serves as the international president.Representing the InterPort Police (IAASP) at the appointment were Chief Boyd and Secretary General Michael Toddington.
Third Annual Fred V. Morrone Memorial 9-11 Award Recipient Francis Townsend

Chairman Chief Russell Whitmarsh and Port Authority of New York and New Jersey Police Department's, Superintendent of Police and Public Safety Michael Fedorko presented the 3rd Annual Fred V. Morrone Memorial 9-11 Award to Francis Townsend. Ms Townsend served as assistant to the President for homeland security and counterterrorism. As the chief of counterterrorism at the White House she was often portrayed as the glue that kept the intelligence community working cohesively. Her post nine-eleven role was critical in keeping the Nation safe and her efforts were tireless. Her dedication to her country set an example when the need arose. Today, America and the world are safer places because of the work accomplished by Ms. Townsend. We honor her in the name of Fred V. Morrone and the 36 brave officers from the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey who perished in the World Trade Towers and to all first responders who gave their lives on nine-eleven and those who serve each and
The first two years the event was held in Washington, D.C. where in 2007 we had our inaugural program and gave the first award to former Mayor Rudy Giuliani; in 2008 at our second event our recipient was the Honorable Asa Hutchinson. Chairman Whitmarsh stated, "We look to start the 2010 and 2011 committee efforts soon and look for participation from the departments and recommendations of commercial companies for sponsorships.
